Launch day and press

Cydweithrediad Archif Bosteri ESGIDIAU COCHION ag UNISON Cymru
Diwrnod lansio a’r wasg

On 20 November 2024, UNISON Cymru unveiled its temporary exhibition, a collaboration with RED SHOES poster archive. The display is designed to inspire the next generation of public service workers to challenge injustice wherever they find it.

Sarah Davies Cwm Taf Morgannwg branch secretary and UNISON Cymru’s then deputy convenor opened the launch event in the company of Communications Forum members and representatives from each of our Self-Organised Groups – Black members, disabled members and women members, as well as our young members and retired members.

In the short ceremony, we heard from curator Shaun and from Terry Evans, who as former chair of the Communications Forum was instrumental in driving the collaboration forward. UNISON Cymru secretary Jess Turner spoke about why activism and teaching the next generation about unions and solidarity is so important to her.

After the temporary exhibition in the UNISON Cardiff office closes, it will tour UNISON branches across Wales so even more people can see its wonderful celebration of past campaigns and the progress made for social justice.

Thanks to Mike Walker for providing some of the past UNISON forerunner unions’ posters for the display.

Ar 20fed Tachwedd 2024, datgelodd UNISON Cymru ei arddangosfa dros-dro, mewn cydweithrediad ag archif bosteri ESGIDIAU COCHION. Mae’r arddangosfa wedi’i chynllunio i ysbrydoli’r genhedlaeth nesaf o weithwyr gwasanaeth cyhoeddus i herio anghyfiawnder lle bynnag y maent yn ei weld.

Agorwyd y digwyddiad lansio gan Sarah Davies, ysgrifennydd cangen Cwm Taf Morgannwg a dirprwy gynullydd UNISON Cymru ar y pryd, yng nghwmni aelodau’r Fforwm Cyfathrebu a chynrychiolwyr o bob un o’n Grwpiau Hunan-Drefnol – aelodau Croenddu, aelodau anabl ac aelodau benywaidd, yn ogystal â’n haelodau ifanc ac aelodau wedi ymddeol.

Yn y seremoni fer, clywsom gan y curadur Shaun a gan Terry Evans, a oedd, fel cyn-gadeirydd y Fforwm Cyfathrebu, yn allweddol wrth fwrw ymlaen â’r trefniant cydweithredol. Siaradodd ysgrifennydd UNISON Cymru, Jess Turner, am pam mae ymgyrchu ac addysgu’r genhedlaeth nesaf am undebau ac undod mor bwysig iddi.

Ar ôl i’r arddangosfa dros-dro yn swyddfa UNISON Caerdydd gau, bydd yn teithio o amgylch canghennau UNISON ledled Cymru fel y gall hyd yn oed mwy o bobl weld ei dathliad gwych o ymgyrchoedd y gorffennol a’r cynnydd a wnaed dros gyfiawnder cymdeithasol.

Diolch i Mike Walker am ddarparu rhai o bosteri rhagflaenwyr UNISON ar gyfer yr arddangosfa.
