RED SHOES Poster Archive collaboration with UNISON Cymru
Cydweithrediad Archif Bosteri ESGIDIAU COCHION ag UNISON Cymru
“The UNISON Cymru Communications Forum is sponsoring this temporary RED SHOES exhibition because these posters must be seen by a wide audience. We want to show a new generation of Welsh public service workers the value of solidarity.
Working with the RED SHOES poster archive curator, UNISON selected posters to reflect our membership, so you will see plenty of posters on feminism and equalities, as well as posters for peace and social justice. We think you’ll be inspired too. Let’s keep fighting and our voices will be heard!”

“Mae Fforwm Cyfathrebu UNISON Cymru yn noddi’r arddangosfa ESGIDIAU COCHION dros-dro hon oherwydd mae’n rhaid i’r posteri hyn gael eu gweld gan gynulleidfa eang. Rydym am ddangos i genhedlaeth newydd o weithwyr gwasanaethau cyhoeddus Cymru beth yw gwerth undod.
Gan weithio gyda churadur archif bosteri ESGIDIAU COCHION, dewisodd UNISON bosteri i adlewyrchu ein haelodaeth, felly fe welwch ddigonedd o bosteri ar ffeministiaeth a chydraddoldeb, yn ogystal â phosteri yn ymwneud â heddwch a chyfiawnder cymdeithasol. Rydyn ni’n meddwl y byddwch chi’n cael eich ysbrydoli hefyd. Gadewch i ni barhau i ymladd a bydd ein lleisiau’n cael eu clywed.”

“The posters on display are from RED SHOES Poster Archive | Archif Bosteri’r ESGIDIAU COCHION, an accessible public learning resource based in Cardiff and Newport which preserves and celebrates the poster culture of working class people and communities. Since 2020, we’ve amassed over 1700 physical posters and ephemera, alongside a digital archive.
Our primary function is activism; utilising the collection to raise awareness of the cultural and social value of working class art; and to open up dialogue, discussion and appreciation of the role of posters as activist tools within the context of social and political change now, and in the past.
RED SHOES refers to the colour most associated with mass worker-led movements, and the notion that we walk in the footsteps of those before us, continuing the struggle to win a more fair, equitable and sustainable world.
Many of the posters on display are available by mail order as high quality A3 reproduction prints. £2 from every Miners strike poster sale goes to the Cefn Fforest Miner’s Institute ‘Save Our Stute’ fund.”
